9)     What number must be subtracted from each of the numbers 23, 40, 57 and 108 so that the remainders are in proportion?
10) A friutseller had some apples. He sells 40% of them and still has 420 apples. How many apples had he in all?
11) The population of  a town increases 8% annually. If its present population is 142560. What was it year ago?
12) A man sold 2 radio0s at Rs. 4800 each. On one he gains 20% and on the other he loses 20%. Find the gain or loss percent in the whole transaction.
13) A sum of money at simple interest doubles itself in 8 years 4 months in how much times will it trebles itself.
14) In what time will Rs. 5600 amount to Rs. 6720 at 8% per annum?
15) In a triangle, if 3   A = 4   B = 6   C  , find angle A,B,C.
16) A ladder 17m long reaches window which is 8m above the ground, on one side of the street. Keeping its foot at the same point, the ladder is turned to the other side of the street to reach a window at a height of 15m.  Find the width of the street.

7.       A garrison of  500 men had provisions for 27 days . However , a reinforcement of 300 men arrived after 3 days  . For how many days will the food last now ?
